I35W Bridge Collapse

The I-35W Mississippi River bridge was an eight-lane bridge across the Mississippi River in north Minneapolis, United States. At 6:05 p.m. on August 1, 2007, during the rush hour, the centre span of the deck truss of the bridge collapsed and fall into the river below resulting in the death of 13 people and injury of 145.

Since 1983, the bridge was inspected annually by Mn/DOT, however no inspection report was completed in 2007, due to the construction work.
